I heart green!

Happy belated St.Patty's day! We had a blast at work yesterday. We decorated the office and everyone dressed in green (I wore one of my fave green ruffle cardigan and green flats). Then our boss bought us Chicago style pizza (yum!) and green beer. All in all a very fun day! Then I went over to a friends house to make a diaper cake for James' sisters baby shower. I will post pics of it after the shower. I loved how it turned out! Maybe I will even do a tutorial on it. :)
I wish I had a picture for how Cute Chloe looked. My sister, Virginia, bought her a onsie that said "Born Lucky" and she was wearing a green bow with green and white polka-dotted baby leggies. I guess you can just use your imagination and picture a ridiculously cute 4 month old dressed head to toe in green.

Hope you all had fun yesterday!
WHAT DID YOU ALL DO YESTERDAY?

Chloe's Dedication

We decided to dedicate Chloe to the Lord on Sunday, March 13. It was extra special because she was the first baby at our church to be dedicated. keep in mind, the church is only 1 year old. Pastor Jeff prophesied over her and Pastor Kristi prayed over us. Every time Pastor Kristi prays, it brings me to tears. These are such amazing people and I am so glad that God has called them to be the pastors of our church. They are seriously such a blessing to our family and to San Diego.

We wanted to proclaim that we will do everything we can to bring Chloe up in a household who loves and serves the Lord. We will teach her good Christian values and try our best to be positive Godly influences on her life.

Here is what Pastor Jeff proclaimed:
"Chloe will live a blessed life as one who does not walk in step with the wicked. She will not stand in the path that sinners take or sit in the seat of mockers.

Chloe's delight will be in the law of the Lord. She will meditate on Him and His law, day and night.
Chloe will be as a tree planted by streams of water, which yields much fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither. Whatever she does will prosper.
Chloe will be blessed because she will trust in God. Her confidence will be found in Him.
She will be like a tree planted by the water. She will send out her roots into the stream of God's life, His word and His church.
Chloe will not fear under the heat of trials. She will remain full of life, because her roots run deep in the stream of God and His goodness.
Chloe will not worry in a year of drought, she will never fail to be fruitful.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow Chloe all the days of her life and She will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. "

Amen to that! I am so glad that Chloe will be brought up in a house that loves and serves the Lord.

Etsy Shops Features - coming soon!

I looooooove me some Etsy. What could be better than homemade amazingness? I love the little details, the one of a kind-ness and the idea that they are hand crafted with love. I truly believe that you put a bit of yourself into what you make and that is why it is so unique and special.

I actually have an Etsy shop myself, I have had it for 3 years now. However, long gone are the days when it was bustling. Someday I will start making things again and my shop will come back with a bang (I hope). My head has been swirling with ideas and my creative juices are flowing. I have gotten too busy and too exhausted to find the time to make the things I think about making. I just need to find a babysitter for one entire Saturday (probably more like weekend) so I can sit with my sewing and jewelry supplies and furiously create. Until then, I will wait to share my little corner of Etsy.

But that is where YOU come in. No, not for babysitting (although it you would like to, then by all means!). I figured since I have about 60 readers, there are bound to be a few or more of you who have a wonderful little Etsy shop with special little pretties. I would love to visit them all and hopefully even buy a little something.

So with that said, I wanted you to share your Etsy stores with me and the rest of the readers! I was even thinking of doing Etsy Shop Features of my favorites. The feature would be free of charge of course!
Think of it this way: You get free advertisement and I get to salivate over your precious homemade goodies - giving me more eye candy than my little eyes can bare. Why? Let's just say I have a special place in my heart for home made entrapenuers ... and I like to help a sista out.;)

Submit your Etsy shops to Shesaidblog@ymail.com. Email me a link to your shop, a little blurb about what you sell and how you started up.

FEAR

I know everyone fears something. I happen to fear a lot of things. I have been thinking about my fears more and more as we do our life group on Wednesdays. Here are some fears I have, not in any particular order.

1.Spiders - They are ugly, creepy, crawly, sometimes poisonous, and can make me cry if they are within 10 feet of me.

2. Darkness - In more ways than one. Darkness is what I would live in if I were to turn away from my religion, such as a separation from God and my relationship with Jesus (which is a very healthy fear to have). I also have a fear of literal darkness. This might stem from when my Dad had no filter on what we could watch as I was a child. I would watch "It" and "the leprechaun" many of times. I had thoughts at night that the leprechaun was coming to get me in my room and he was waiting for me under my bed. I would cry when I heard the littlest noise and couldn't see where it was coming from and just knew deep down inside that the leprechaun was coming to kill me. To this day I still cannot sleep without a nightlight. It was pretty embarrassing when I had to tell James that I needed a night light to go to sleep.  Let's just say James has been a very good sport about it.

3. Shots/blood drawn - Don't know why.... I seriously cry every time this has to happen. I think I psych myself out. And trust me, I have heard it 100 times "How can you be so afraid when you have so many tattoos?" Ask any one who has ever gotten a tattoo, it's totally different.

4. Crowded paces - I don't know if it is necessarily a fear or if I just get really really annoyed. Either way, I hate it.

5. Heights- Many people have this fear, I happen to be one of them. I can't look over an edge, climb a latter, look down from a tall building. No matter how secure the rail is, I won't do it. It is just the fear that I can possibly fall and I am so clumsy in the first place that I probably would fall. And I will never be able to go skydiving like I always wanted to. This fear goes hand in hand with my next fear.

 6. Stairs - I always have a death grip on the railings. If the stairs are against a wall, I am usually pretty okay with it. It is the free standing stairs that I can't handle.  I feel that many are unstable and that I will slip and fall. The stairs that have no backing (you can see below under each step) terrify me. I imagine my foot slipping under the step, through the opening and somehow cracking my head open.  I especially can't handle stairs that switch back and forth and go up many flights and barely have any railing support. I mean, common, someone is bound to get hurt. And that person is more than likely to be me. (maybe this one is more about my crazy imagination getting the best of me)

7. God - The most important fear of all. We are currently doing a video study from Francis Chan called Basic - Who Is God? Seriously amazing study, you should definitely check it out. The topic for the last two meetings was on the FEAR of the lord.
We talked about how some of the more modern Christian churches substitute the term "fear the Lord" for something much less than it really is. Usually we hear that it means reverence, respect, or awe. However, if you look back into passages such as when Isaiah met God that he was terrified. And when John met Jesus again in Revelations 1, he was so scared that he "fell at his feet as though dead." He essentially fainted from the fear he felt. God is the almighty. The most powerful thing you can ever imagine times a million. We can't even comprehend how great He is. Of course we should be scared. He can do the unimaginable. He brought us into this world and He can take us out.
However, Jesus tells us to not be afraid. He wants us to comprehend His power is more great than ever we will or have ever known, however, He loves us so much and He is on our side. He's got our back.

Francis Chan explains it much better than I can,
"Until we come to a point of fearing God, our relationship with Him will be superficial and distorted. But once we come to that place of fear, we will find that there is nothing else to fear. Seeing God in all of His power and glory allows us to see beyond ourselves, to see that this life is all about Him. And when we understand that this fear-inducing God loves us unconditionally, all other fears subside." {found in the book Basic: Who is God – Follower’s guide by Francis Chan}

Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Proverbs 19:23 “The fear of the Lord leads to life, so that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil.”

So I encourage you to take a second and really think about how you view God. Sometimes it is easy to make our God  a more manageable so that we can go on living the way we want to live rather than the way He wants us to live.

I for one will be taking a new look at these other fears of mine and seriously giving them up to Him to heal me. I mean seriously, none of the other fears can take a stance against God. As Paul says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

Tuesday Tunes

So the reason I am posting these is to share with you new musical talent that you might not have heard before. Since we don't have a radio (thanks to someone stealing our car antenna)the only way I hear about new music is through my peers, blogs I read, pandora and playlist.com. So here you go.

This week I have really been feeling the sweet sound of femme vocals. If you know any other musicians that sound something like these lovely ladies. Leave a comment below so I can check them out. :)

SOS (3.13.11)

SOS - Steppin' Out Saturday posts on Harper's Happenings

I know it is for Saturdays, but I am going to post my Sunday outfits. I usually get somewhat cute for church and I actually have the time to get ready.  Lately I have been feeling kinda down about how my clothes are fitting me after my pregnancy. Seriously, my body has changed so much! I kinda figured that I would get back to what I looked like before I got preggo, but now my hips are permanently wider (which I already had cbh hips before being pregnant, now I bet I can pop a kid out in no time.haha) and my chest is bigger too (duh) and so NOTHING fits me the way it is supposed to. So I decided to do these post as a sort of pick me up to look back on whenever I am down about how scrubby I happen to look at the moment. Plus, it's just plain fun.

How could you NOT want to stare at this face all day?

Chloe Loves (Vol. 2)

Chloe loves her activity play mat. She already has learned how to use the motion setting. When the music stops playing, she kicks her feet toward the bar so that the music will start again. She really loves the changing colored lights too. As soon as we lay her under the "canopy" she smiles and her eyes get big and she starts cooing and baby talking to the little monkey and other animal rattles hanging from the tree. It is seriously the cutest thing ever.
