I love driving to work everyday because in the short ride I have, I go through what seems like a forest. It is full of all kinds of beautiful trees. Green is EVERYWHERE and it gives me the happiest feeling to be surrounded by so much greenery and nature. There is something that gives me the warm and fuzzies when I am surrounded by mother nature, God's beautiful creation. I feel so at peace with everything, even when my life is full of craziness. At my lunch break I have to sit in my car to pump (one of the many joys of being a full time working mom) and the best thing about it is my view. I lookout into a scenery of trees all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors and a marsh is in my view that is said to have blue herons visit. I look out my window at my office and just am surrounded by nature.</div>

Downtown Vancouver is nothing to write home about. However, we are just a hop, skip and a jump away from downtown Portland and they have plenty to do there. We have already visited Saturday market twice, walked around aimlessly, played in a few different water "fountains, visited some fun stores and ate some yummy food. Portland is so big, eclectic and fun! The vibe is so different than San Diego. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
There are so many family friendly places here! The brand new library is awesome. James takes the girls there every Wednesday for story time and to play in their super cute, modern indoor playground. We have been to historic Fort Vancouver a few times with beautiful victorian houses and cool history and a big open field for Chloe to run in. There are tons of fun, nice playgrounds everywhere up here! I have been told that within the last 2 years Vancouver has really been trying to become more family friendly. I definitely agree there is tons to do here with our little ones and I have to say that I like it very much. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
We are attending City Bible Church in Vancouver. Our SD home church was an extension of the church up here. So I feel like we already understand the principals and main mission of our new church and we fit right in. The kids church is awesome! Chloe loves her two year old class and is making friends fast. They even have a nursery for newborns and a nursing room with a tv that plays the video from inside the sanctuary so you can still watch the sermon while you nurse. It is so nice because Emery seems to always be hungry at church and I would always miss out on a good chunk of the service. We are starting to get to know people, we start attending a small group for young families next Sunday and I am so excited. It will be nice to have people to connect to here other than our family.</div>

Speaking of family, James sister will be moving in literally next door to us. It will be awesome to have her so close to just stop by and hang out for a few since she is so busy with work and school. It is nice to have family so close to play with the girls. James mom just moved to Portland and is now only 20 minutes away from us vs the hour they were. They have been coming over often to help James take care of the girls during the day while I am at work.We are blessed to have family so close and available to help us. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We have made some new friends thanks to Instagram/blog world. We met with Alicia from <a href="http://downsideupumbrella.blogspot.com/">upside down umbrella</a>. Their little family is so cute and we already have lots in common. We have tons of fun things planned and I can't wait to hang out more. It is nice to meet people who are in the same life stage as you. Especially when you have little ones because things can come up unexpectedly and things are so unpredictable, so to have friends that understand is great. And Emery and her baby Chloe are close in age so I can't wait for them to play together! Thank you Instagram for connecting me to people whom I otherwise would have never met. Who knew, right? <b>If any of you other bloggers who live here in Portland or Vancouver want to get together and meet up (play dates encouraged, Chloe needs friends!) just email me at shesaidblog{at}ymail{dot}com</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

It sure doesn't feel like fall around here. The temperature is in the high70's/ 80's and the sun is shining brightly. From what the locals say, we arehaving an "Indian Summer" meaning that summer is sticking around latethis year. bummer. Although it does give us opportunity to check out our newcity and see what all the fun outdoor activities are available around here. <br />
<br />
I can't wait for it to start getting cool. I love thecrisp air and the hazy sky. Just thinking about it makes me want to curl up bya fireplace and sip hot cocoa. At least the leaves are changing colors intobeautiful fire reds, oranges and gold. It is nice to live in a place that hasactual seasons (no offense SD).<br />
<br />
James and I are thinking about taking the plunge and becoming coffee drinkers. I NEED caffeine because baby keeps me up all hours of the night to nurse and I have to be at work and ready for my busy day by 8 am. The thing is, we don't like the bitter taste of coffee. We like the sweet stuff. I LOVE coffee ice cream, so if I can get a drink that taste like that but warm, we would be all set. What better time to start drinking coffee then the fall? <b>For any of you coffee lovers out there, do you have any suggestions?</b> <br />
<br />
I keep hearing about all these pumpkin patches that are starting up and I can't wait to take the girls. I want to hit up at least 1 every weekend. Seriously love getting out and about with the girls to parks and festivals and things of the sort. Especially places where Chloe can pet/see animals, her face lights up so big when she sees real life animals. <br />
<br />
<br />
I am also excited for fall because I LOVE fall wardrobe! I want to start wearing my boots, cardigans, scarfs, mittens and warm fun colored tights, so get with it fall! <br />
<br />
Oh and we already have our theme for Halloween this year. We will be the characters from UP. James will be Carl, Chloe is Russel, Emery is Doug and I will be Kevin. I can't wait to see how our costumes turn out. I love when families dress up together, it is so cute. <b>If any of you have ideas for this theme, let me know</b> as I am trying to put the costumes together on the limited budget and very limited spare time I have.<br />

We ended up using Jana Morgan as the photographer and let me tell you, she was wonderful! She was so patient with us, especially since Chloe didn't want to take any photos with us! The life of a toddler, too busy to sit and take a photo.<br />
<br />
Anyway, enjoy!<br />

I hope summer has been good to everyone. I can't believe fall is already here! Although this 90 degree weather we are having sure doesn't make it feel like fall.<br />
<br />
We made it up to Vancouver, Wa all in one piece. The babies did wonderful! Both Chloe and Emery were patient and calm, which was such a blessing for a 2 day road trip. We are loving our new house! It is so roomy! Plus we have a pretty little backyard that Chloe can play and run around in. She has made some fun animal friends back there too! We have tree frogs, snails, squirrels and more and she has fun naming them and spying them. She even asks us to go find snails with her!<br />
<br />
I finally found a job after 6 weeks of applying. I start later this week working in an office! Thank you all for your prayers! God has been constantly blessing us throughout this big journey.<br />
He is so good. We know He wants us here and He is constantly opening up doors of provision for us.<br />
<br />
Chloe is getting so big and is starting to say full, small sentences. And Emery is trying to sit up on her own. She is getting to be so big too and she loves to smile and talk/coo (and so loud at that)! She is also teething like crazy. I will have to do more in depth post about the girlies soon. <br />
<br />
We love our new church too! We attended City Bible Church in San Diego and they have a vancouver campus up here! Can't wait to get more plugged in!<br />
<br />
We are loving our new life and missing our family back home like crazy. Its been bitter sweet. <br />
<br />
Hopefully as things start winding down around here (and we start getting more and more boxes unpacked) I will be able to find the time to blog more! I miss it! And I know I have to keep our family and friends back hone updated on our new adventure. <br />
<br />

We are officially going to be residence in Vancouver, WA. We are renting a 1600 sqft 3 bedroom home with nice upgrades, super convenient location and a backyard! All for cheaper than we pay for our small 2 bedroom apartment now (oh the joys of living in expensive San Diego). We move at the end of August. We already told our work that we are leaving and now I am on a job hunt to start around the first of September. I am sad to be leaving Emery to go to work, but James will be home with the girls for paternity leave and James' mom is going to be babysitting the girls when we both go back to work. I am so excited that we will have such an amazing women to help us raise our children. <br />
<br />
Please pray that I find a job soon. I hate this uneasy feeling of not 100% sure our finances are secure. Although if I don't find a job right away it is okay because we have saved up at least 2.5 months rent and bills money. And I have no shame in getting a job at fast food place or something to bring in at least a little money until I find a career. <br />
<br />
Again sorry the updates are so short and choppy. It's hard trying to move across states when you have a 7 week old and a 20 month old. And trying to spend as much time with family and friends as possible before we leave. Talk about no time to do anything else! haha. I am definitely busy but it is a great kind of busy!<br />
<br />
oh and please forgive my numerous advertisements of things I am selling. You never know who could want it, though. We are really trying to downsize before we move!<br />

Thank goodness my sister came over to help watch Emery while i did this or i definitely would never have time to get around to it. It was nice to be able to put off my chores, hand my baby over to her loving auntie and just focus on a little crafting again. :)<br />
Arent these cute? I just love chevron pattern, especially yellow and white chevron! These are going right on my sisters bed. I would love a pair of these pillows for my living room.... <br />

For our little family photo shoot we are going to do royal blue, white and pink/fuchsia. I am so excited about the colors. I whipped up a quick inspiration board. Sorry, I didn't have the time to source these items, but they are mainly items from old navy and target and just random google images. </div>

So motherhood is not super easy for me. It never was with Chloe and it is even harder for me now with Emery added to the mix. However, just because it isn't easy doesn't mean I don't love it. Sure there are hard days where I don't even know how I can keep my eyes open because I haven't had a decent amount of sleep in the last month, but waking up to Chloe's smile and Emery's little coos are so wonderful and worth all the sleepless nights. I just continually pray to God for patience, energy, wisdom and grace. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aGiO4Yequ7I/UA2eAYjtrTI/AAAAAAAAC2E/StMcHMCAPqU/s1600/375675_342793032462969_825012201_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aGiO4Yequ7I/UA2eAYjtrTI/AAAAAAAAC2E/StMcHMCAPqU/s320/375675_342793032462969_825012201_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have been doing so much with the babies! Spending some good quality time with our families before we leave. We go to tons of parks and Chloe has officially fell in love with swimming, so we do that a lot now too. In fact, Emery had her first pool experience yesterday and she seemed to really like it! (And her little polkadot swimsuit was adorable, I just couldn't get over it.) Oh and Chloe also loves the drive in movies, so we can finally go to see a movie now too. We are also trying to go to some San Diego outings that we won't get to do once we leave. which means lots of beach time. :) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UTwQB8NguG8/UA2d0qvm5QI/AAAAAAAAC18/QcdP6Q31hNM/s1600/560905_341563069252632_645457591_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UTwQB8NguG8/UA2d0qvm5QI/AAAAAAAAC18/QcdP6Q31hNM/s320/560905_341563069252632_645457591_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And since we are leaving our families want to get photos done with everyone, meaning we have 3 photo shoots to do in the next month. We have already done one that didn't go so well because Chloe refused to stand still (or stand at all for that matter). So I finally just told the photographer to just take them, even if she is lying on the ground crying because I won't let her have Emery's bottle of milk. We will just have to look back on the photos and laugh (someday later down the road)....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is hard to get on the computer to write a post when I am holding and nursing the baby or running after/playing with Chloe. So, please forgive the lack of post. Right now the most special thing to me is spending as much time as I can with these two little ones before I have to go back to work in September. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finally went through my closet and weed out clothes that are cute, but I just don't wear enough. Lucky for you, I finally got around to adding these little pretties into the <a href="http://shesaidblogshop.blogspot.com/">She Said Shop</a> (button --->) and now you can own these gently used clothes. Everything that was previously in the shop has been reduced in price and nothing is over $10. Many of the clothes are $5 or less. I added a maternity section that I will be adding more clothes to soon and I even I added a bunch of dresses and a few that are new with tags and never been worn. </div>

Sorry, but taking care of two little ones is exhausting and time consuming, as many of you know. Which means that I hardly get time to go on the computer, never the less post on the blog. However, James has been bugging me to post something on here for quite sometime now... so that is just what I am doing. Posting to my blog instead of doing laundry. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are some beautiful pictures James took of Emery at just one week old. And today she is exactly one month since she was welcomed into this world. Time sure does fly!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enjoy the pictures. (I would love for James to be a photographer. He always takes such great photos!)</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YxoxS9rVa_s/T-TRuE0IEdI/AAAAAAAACp0/5haVWGg23rk/s1600/Chloe+meets+Emery1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YxoxS9rVa_s/T-TRuE0IEdI/AAAAAAAACp0/5haVWGg23rk/s320/Chloe+meets+Emery1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was very worried about how Chloe would react when meeting Emery for the first time. Chloe is very possessive over us and I was worried she would lash out toward the baby, but I couldn't have been more wrong. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chloe was at my mothers while we were in the hospital. So she didn't get to meet Emery until she was 4 days old. She came home early Monday morning while Em was still asleep so we got to spend some one on one time with Chloe since she was away from us for so long. It was nice to get that special time with her first since i missed her so much while she was gone. Then after about 2 hours, Emery woke up and we introduced them. We had Chloe sit </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chloe is so sweet to her little sister. She says hi all the time and gently rubs her head. She gets concerned when Emery starts to whimper or cry and she even shared her sacred blankie and lovie with her. When Emery is in her bassinet Chloe loves to rock it and will hold on to the edge and just stand there next to her for a long time. She even asks me to put baby in swing, then she tries pushing it (i assuming she thinks its like the swings at the. Playground that she loves so much) Chloe already knows what certain lovie is Emery's and every time she sees it she brings it to Em. Chloe has now wanted to start sitting next to me and cuddle my arm while I am nursing Emery, it's pretty cute. She has been such a cutie and good helper. I am so glad she likes her little sister. </div>She Said...http://www.blogger.com/profile/06846018278522846192noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5672692344335973622.post-65173980378544950942012-06-22T13:04:00.001-07:002012-06-22T13:09:29.856-07:00Emery's Birth Announcement<div class="sflyProductPreviewWidget" style="height: 494px; width: 425px;">

James took some really adorable photos of Emery. It was so hard to pick which one to put on the baby announcement, but I think this one worked out quite well. I will post the other pictures sometime soon. Just FYI, <a href="http://www.shutterfly.com/">Shutterfly </a>has some really cute cards. <br /><img border="0" height="1" src="https://os.shutterfly.com/b/ss/sflyshareprod/1/H.15/111?pageName=sharekey&c1=msc&c2=blogger" style="background: #ffffff; border: none; box-shadow: none; padding: 0;" width="1" /></div>

Our beautiful Emery Rose graced us with her presence finally. She weighed in at 8 lbs 3 oz and 19.5 inches long. She has a ton of hair and her eyes are already turning blue. We think she looks exactly how Chloe did when she was born. <br />
<br />
We already went to her first baby apt and she is doing great. A little jaundice in the eyes and she lost 9 ounces, but the doc said that continued nursing will fix all that. And Emery is crazy strong. During the exam, Emery was doing "push ups" and moving her head all around. She even flipped herself over from her stomach to her back. I couldn't believe it.. And at just 4 days old. <br />
<br />
Chloe loves her and ill share more of that in another post. Right now i have to go snuggle with my new sweetie...<br />

I am now 6 days past my due date.... And by the lack of contractions, this little one may have to be forced out! I have an induction date of June 13th. I'm trying to stay positive knowing she will come all in His perfect timing and that no one has been pregnant forever.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started my maternity leave Monday and I've come to realize I don't know what to do with all this spare time. I'm trying to get out of the house, get some fresh air and exercise. I've cleaned the house, hung out with my sister, went shopping, visited James at work, and even worked on some crafts, but I still find myself with so much extra time. I know I should soak it up because it will definitely not be like this when Emery is here. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The plus side of just waiting for Emery, I was able to work on some headbands with the help of my sister and mother in law. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-CijVI045B5A/T9OM61Gk5PI/AAAAAAAACoI/SGfRBtQjk8k/s640/blogger-image--1743810306.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-CijVI045B5A/T9OM61Gk5PI/AAAAAAAACoI/SGfRBtQjk8k/s320/blogger-image--1743810306.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also took Chloe to the park a couple of times this week. My fave so far is this park that has a beautiful nature setting with little creeks, wild flowers, and beautiful green rolling hills. They even have these awesome musical instruments for children to play like xylophones, glockenspiels, chimes and pipes. Chloe's favorite part is still the swings. She can swing for an hour and not get bored. We will actually leaving soon to go to the bay and visit another park today. I love park time!</div>

I even kept Chloe out of school one day just to spend some quality
mommy daughter time. It was precious. Even though being a mommy to a
toddler can be stressful at times, Chloe really knows how to make my
heart flutter (almost as much as her daddy). I just love her snuggles,
kisses, smiles, and the way she loves to sing to herself. It's so hard
to imagine that I will be able to love another child as much as I do
Chloe. Although, I know it is possible, but until Emery is actually
here, it's hard to see how my heart can have more room for all the love I
already have and more love that will come so soon. </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hopefully little one will be here this weekend, it would be nice to have James with me for 9 full days... and it would be nice to finally see that sweet face of Emery's and give her lots of hugs and kisses. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you everyone for your prayers! </div>

And Emery is still snug as a bug in my belly... It doesnt seem she has plans to come out any day soon. <br />
<br />
Thats okay i guess, since i have been battling sickness and sinus infection for 13 days now... Im sure shes just waiting until I'm better and in good enough shape to go through labor.<br />
<br />
I have officially started maternity leave on my due date. Ive been scurrying around to various doctors appointments and trying to soak up as much time as i can with James and Chloe. <br />
<br />
I went to the hospital saturday because i was having horrible contractions from 8 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon, but as soon as we got there, they started to die down (isn't that how it always works?) so after about 5 hours of dilation checks, contraction monitoring and walking, they sent me home. And i haven't had very many contractions since then... I know she'll comr in God's perfect timing, but i am definitely over it. <br />
<br />
As you can see i haven't exactly kept up with the old blog, writing nor reading... Im sure that will change when I'm home with the baby. Thank you to all the people who have been checking in on me, I really appreciate it!<br />
<br />
Being overdue and sick is a horrible combination, please pray for a super quick recovery. The doctors said they will induce me on the 13th if shes not made her appearance yet, so that only gives me 8 days to get in tip top shape!<br />

<span style="color: #454545; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">I went to a wedding on Sunday where the grooms mother was a pretty well known Doula. She had many other doulas attending the wedding and helping out throughout the night. I was approached by many of these doulas, with tummy rubs and birthing questions. One of the doulas mentioned placenta encapsulation and told me I should really look into it. </span></div>
<div class="yiv1328086607MsoNormal" id="yui_3_2_0_6_1337639430894585" style="background-color: white; padding: 0px;">

<span style="color: #454545; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">At work, there are 3 of us ladies who sit next to each other, all of us pregnant. It has been fun talking about babies and births and questions of what's to come. We have all mentioned placenta eating before and were making fun of it and joking about it. So I mention it to the ladies as I came into work on Monday and we all immediately started looking into it. As it turns out, there are <i>MANY</i> benefits to it...</span></div>
<div class="yiv1328086607MsoNormal" id="yui_3_2_0_6_1337639430894585" style="background-color: white; padding: 0px;">

<span style="color: #454545; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">So I have decided to try it out. Yes, I will be one of those "hippies" that will in some form or another digest my placenta. But before you judge, take a look into the benefits and you may be surprised what you find. I have included some info on it below and included links to where I have looked up info (although this doesn't really show just how many websites I visited today to research on this... I probably spent a good 4 hours on this). I will be participating in what they call "placenta encapsulation". </span></div>

<span style="color: #454545; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">I have decided to create my own placenta pills. I would have a doula do this, but the cost is $250 starting and I don't have enough time between now and when the baby comes sometime in the next two weeks (or any day now for that matter) to save up the money to do so. So, James mom has graciously said yes to helping me create these pills (thank you so much!!!) and hopefully I will be able to reap the benefits of the afterbirth (still creeps me out to say it). </span></div>

My tummy is much bigger than it looks in the pictures... (Black is slimming) the baby has dropped and is sitting pretty low now. I cant cross my legs when sitting and she loves to kick my bladder. I feel like i just have to pee every single time i stand up! I have been having mild contractions here and there, but nothing to make me think the baby will be here any minute. I am really hoping that emery come 5/27 that way her and Chloe are exactly 1.5 years apart and so i can remember their birthdays easier. Haha<br />
<br />
This baby sure is making me tired though and her kicks and jabs are starting to become unwelcome... But at least shes moving, so i cant really complain. I am just at that "SO OVER IT" stage and cant wait to meet her. <br />
<br />
On a GREAT note... I no longer have placenta previa!!! Thank you so much for all your prayers! God is my healer and he had given me peace no matter what the outcome of the ultrasound would have been... But I'm not gonna lie, it was awesome to hear the technician say that the placenta has moved and it was "no where near" the cervix. Such great news after the placenta hadn't moved at all for over 10 weeks and in just a little over a month it had moved so much. <br />
<br />
Speaking of placentas... More on that in my next post.<br />

We also are saving up for my maternity leave pay cut and our big move. We have helped tons of family and friends get on the right track financially and I thought I would offer some advice as to what works for us. Keep in mind, this might not work for everyone, below is just what our family does to keep cost down.<br />
<br />
Here are some tips that we have used to help us get more financially fit.<br />
1. WRITE A BUDGET. This is the most important thing to do. Have your budget written out and planned ahead of time. Even if your paychecks are sporadic, writing down bills that need to be paid, there typical monthly cost and the time they are due will help keep you on track. Seeing how much you pay for things might get you to notice some overspending that you haven't seen before. Our class taught us to first keep receipts of everything we do for one month. Then create categories such as food, clothing, shelter, utilities, entertainment, auto, etc... and add up how much you spent in each category. Then figure out where you can slim down on. I keep our budget on an excel time sheet that has hidden formulas. That way if our checks ever vary, I just have to put in the check amount and it will change everything else according to. I plan our whole year in advance with our budget so that way we can plan adequately for family vacations, etc...<br />
<br />
2. ENVELOPE SYSTEM. Allocate where each dollar is going every paycheck. James and I have been doing this for 3 years now and we have saved thousands of dollars. We never realized how much we were spending on random things until we did this. We even have an envelope for spur of the moment items. Once the money you allocated for the paycheck runs out, you stop spending. It helped us get our priorities straight as to what we really want to spend our money on. This system has helped us save money for tattoos, a laptop and a camera. Talk about savings! We started out using the cash method in the envelopes, but after we got ourselves on track and in habit of only spending what is in our envelopes, we now use our debit card. I created card stock cards that have a register for each envelope we used to have and subtract what we spend immediately so it still keeps us in check on what amounts we are using and when to stop. It also helps if we forget our envelopes at home and makes me feel better knowing I am not carrying around so much cash. Although, I would suggest doing the cash only method first to really help instill the habit.
<br />
<br />
<span class="”<br">3. STOP PAYING FOR CABLE. James and I haven't had cable in 3 years and we have never regretted it. We only have internet and it really is pretty much the same thing. We used to subscribe to NETFLIX for $9.99 a month and it had almost all the television shows we would want to watch, with NO commercials and are on watch instantly, so you won't have to wait for the shows to be put on dvd. We actually, cut the cost of Netflix too and just watch shows on Hulu or shows that are posted on the broadcasters wesbites. Now it takes about a week until after the show has aired to post it, but we don't have the time to watch shows very often, so it doesn't really matter to us. We will wait until 2-3 episodes are available and just watch them back to back. As far as getting news from cable, all important news information can be found on the internet. This saves us about $50 a month.<br />
<br />4. BUY IN BULK. Buying certain foods or items in bulk, especially frozen foods can help save tons in the long run. </span>James and I buy bulk frozen meats that last a month, which ends up being cheaper per pound. We separate the meat into the appropriate proportions before we put into the freezer. We buy toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, etc. in bulk too. We also buy the big packages of items we go through fast, like cheese. We used to do one HUGE shopping trip once a month or every three weeks and purchased a lot of frozen food or canned items. However, James and I wanted to start eating healthier and incorporate more fresh food items into our diet. We now go to the grocery store once a week or every week and a half on our way home from work to purchase fresh fruit and veggies. We found that going more often and buying less quantity at a time (for items that have a short shelf life) saved us from throwing out food that would spoil quickly. We had gone through a lot of bad bananas before we finally decided to try to go more often and it has been great every since. Try to not buy any more food items (except the necessities of milk, bread, eggs, etc..) until your pantry is pretty close to gone. That way there is not certain items that are forgotten and wasted. This strategy also helps you become creative with your food items to create new dishes from the same items and can be fun. Also, Make sure you write a list and STICK TO IT! This can save you TONS on spur of the moment items. Costco has been an awesome investment for us. Sure it's 50 bucks up front, but it has saved us so much money overall, it has been well worth it for us.<br />
<br />
<span class="”<br">5. QUIT THE GYM! I had to cancel my gym membership long ago because we needed the money and I never found time to go anymore. There are plenty of things to do outside. San Diego has the best weather year round to go running, play sports, and do any other outside activity. We should live it up! Find new places like different parks that you could walk to and spend a day there playing with your pets and kids or get your friends together for a game of capture the flag. Try walking to places that are close to you, a 10 minute walk here and there really adds up! I have saved $30 a month not going to the gym. Plus, being outside is so invigorating. And if you live in an area where weather is bad, make a fun game of tag with the kids or have fun doing an exercise or dance video inside the house. We put on music and dance around the house, it's tons of fun.<br />
<br />6. CUT DOWN ON CELL PHONE USAGE. We use to have a 2 separate plans totally about $150. We got a new plan together as a family and started sharing less amount of minutes and cut our texting down from unlimited. We also shopped around for the best plan. Use the internet to email and catch up, many people have a Facebook or Twitter account where you can catch up on as well. This has saved us at least $50 a month. <br />
<br />7. BUY ON CLEARANCE AND USE COUPONS. James and I won't usually go out to eat unless we have coupons and we always check the ads BEFORE we go grocery shopping. When I go shopping for clothes or home decor, I always hit the clearance and sales racks first. I shop at outlet or discount stores like ROSS. I found satin sheet sets for our queen bed for $13! I mainly shop online and when I do, I always scout the internet for coupon codes before purchasing. I usually use <a href="http://retailmenot.com/" target="_blank">Retail Me Not</a> for coupon codes. I typically don't buy things unless they are on sale. I also don't purchase clothes unless I am really in love with it. The reason being is because I will buy it then I will wear it once or twice then forget about it or find something that I don't like about it and it will just sit there in my closet, wasting space and money.<br />
</span><br />
<span class="”<br"><br /></span><br />
<span class="”<br">8. CRAIGSLIST. We are huge advocates of buying,selling and trading locally. Especially our big ticket items. </span>You never know who may be selling something exactly or pretty close to what you are looking for at a fraction of the cost. And you are helping keep that item from a landfill and helping the planet out, go you! We have bought and sold numerous things on Craigslist, mainly furniture. We like to frequent Ikea a lot and find things we want then search for weeks to find them on Craigslist. 90% of the time we get the same item on Craigslist. Also, don't forget that you can also re purpose items. You can find something that is okay, but pretty cheap and then repaint it, or re upholster it and voile, it looks pretty awesome and new. Just be willing to put a little elbow grease into it. Then you can take the money you would have spent on the brand new version and go on a date or something. :)<br />
<span class="”<br"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="”<br">9. RESELL UNUSED/UNWANTED ITEMS. I make sure to try and sell clothes that I haven't worn in 3 or 4 months (depending on if it is weather related) so that way I can make more space for new items and use the money I sell my older clothes for to buy new ones, then it is like an even exchange. :) When we want to get something new, that we don't absolutely need but really want, we see if there are things in our house that we do not use/want anymore and see if we can resell it to put that money toward what we want. For instance, we want to make a play area for Chloe on our little side porch, so we are selling our grill and outside bench that we hardly ever use on craigslist and using that money to purchase a kitchenette set for her with a toy grocery cart and a little table set (which we will look for on craigslist, btw). We like to decrease the clutter at our house so we try to stick with the advice of take one leave one, or in this case, buy something and get rid of something. </span><br />
<span class="”<br"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="”<br">10. REMEMBER YOU DON'T ALWAYS NEED IT. James and I love cool vintage things. And modern things as well. And woodland things. And 50's style things. and and... tons of stuff. Just because we like all this super cool stuff, doesn't necessarily mean that we need it. We use to collect tons of stuff like house decor and had shelves and shelves of eclectic cool things. However, just because we like it doesn't mean that it needs to be ours. We have learned to appreciate something, even love something (take a picture and put it as your backdrop on your phone or computer kinda love) and not end up taking it home with us. It also helps with the decreased clutter and saving money.</span><br />
<span class="”<br"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="”<br">11. FIND THINGS TO DO FOR FREE. Seriously, people say this all the time. But there are so many things you can do around your city that cost you nothing. Go explore! Look for new parks you haven't visited yet. Look on your city website to see if there are street fairs coming to town. Go to the farmers market just to browse and be outdoors. Find a new hiking trail, ride your bike. Go on a picnic. I know in San Diego, you can visit various websites that show free things to do in SD. They also have Family magazine (the free magazine that you can pick up practically anywhere) and it also list free things to do in your city. Take a walk downtown or become a tourist in your own city and go site seeing! </span><br />
<span class="”<br"><br /></span><br />
<span class="”<br">12. HAVE FUN MONEY. James and I make sure to save about $20 (it used to be more before we really started going low for the savings for maternity leave) every paycheck just to have fun with. Whether it be for a date night or for a new dvd that just came out that we want. You need to be able to enjoy your money and have some fun as well as be responsible and save. Fun money is what has kept us from going insane when we have a strict budget. It is what helps us actually get through knowing all our money is already allotted to go somewhere else before we even touch it. </span><br />
<span class="”<br"><br /></span><br />
<span class="”<br">James and I find creative ways to save money. We try hard to stay away from using our credit card and we are really working on being strong enough to say no to things we want but don't need. You really have to stay in the mindset that material things don't always make you happy. It's hard to cut back on everything at once, so take it step by step, little by little and you'll be able to do it. As long as you stick to it, it will become a habit and you will be able to save more money in the long run (meaning actually going on your dream vacation you always wanted!)<br />
<br />Anyways, hope this helps at least one of you readers!<br />

I am now only 1 week away from being "full term". I can't believe how FAST this pregnancy has flown by. Probably because I have been trying my hardest to keep up with my little toddler that I haven't had the time to just sit and wait for E to be here. I remember with Chloe it felt like the pregnancy lasted for-ev-er. With Emery, I feel like I haven't had enough time to fully prepare quite yet.<br />

<br />
As of right now, I am still considered to have placenta previa. I have my last ultrasound on May 16th to determine if I will be allowed to try to have the baby naturally or if I have to have a c-section. God has really moved in my heart. He has given me a great sense of peace about the situation. He has shown me his promise to be there no matter what and this is all a part of His plan. I am resting in His decision as to what is to come of this birth. I would love to be able to delivery naturally, but I will not be heartbroken if I can't. God is so good and I trust in Him so much.<br />
<br />
Baby has been movin' and groovin' so much! She is particularly awake around 9 in the morning and 9-11 at night. Hopefully that is a pattern of sleep she will easily slip into when she comes into this big world. Even though I know that is We have some friends who fed their newborn every 2 hours during the day so that the baby slept through the entire night. Wouldn't that be grand? I am going to meet up with them soon to hear all there tips and tricks. Of course, no matter how hard you try, baby has a personality all her own and I will have to succumb to her schedule, at least for the first month or so.<br />
<br />
We have been trying to get Chloe to comprehend there will be a big change coming soon. We are soaking up as much alone time as we can get with her. I show her my belly and tell her there is a baby in there. She just laughs and pokes my belly button. She really loves belly buttons right now. We decided to get her a gift to help with the big change. We are moving things around and setting up our small patio for a play area for her. We are getting a small kitchenette for her and putting her table and chairs out there and setting it all up really cute. We will even get her a small shopping cart too. She is going to love it. Plus, it will help when she stays home with me on my maternity leave to have a special play area while I am taking care of Emery.<br />
<br />
So many people are telling me that it looks like I am carrying a boy because I am so high. Which then makes me want to double check when I have the ultrasound in 2 weeks. I just feel like if I end up having a boy, I will have to get to know my baby all over again because it is someone I was not expecting at all. And then I will have to run out and get boy clothes or this baby will always be mistaken for a girly girl. James likes to tease me and say he thinks Emery is a HE. ahhh! Just FYI, you should NOT do that to someone who only has 4 weeks left! Now I have dreams about having a boy and bringing him home from the hospital in a dress. It's ridiculous.<br />
