For He's a Jolly Good Fellow

We have our young adults life group/bible study that we lead every Wednesday night. Last night was our first night without Michael. We were so sad. He is a Marine and had to leave to go to Afghanistan until next year. He is a good man an a good friend. He brings a lot of fun and honesty to our group and we will miss him greatly.

We had a surprise going away party for him a couple weekends ago and I never got to post about it. So here they are.
Michael is the one in the middle

These girls crack me up. Oh and we had yummy catered Mexico food.

I like to go extreme with my themes. That's how I roll.

the inevitable "baby room"

serious ping pong tournament

Danielle & Noah - Chloe's future husband
even Chloe will miss Michael
Here's to you Michael - Stay safe! We are praying for you!

30 day post {Day 24}

Day 24 - a picture of something you wish you could change
This opens up a whole can of worms. There are tons of things I wish I could change and on various levels too. I feel that are so many things that I want changed that has nothing to do with myself: world hunger, human trafficking and crime in general. Those things are something that I know I can be a part of to make that change happen, but on my own nothing will change.
However, there are things that I can change with just little ol' me. For instance, the relationship I have with my father. We have had a very rocky relationship when I was growing up, in fact rocky relationship would be an understatement. We pretty much had a non existent relationship and I  hated him for many years. Now, the relationship is totally different. I have found the Lord who took my hurt and anguish away and had replaced it with grace and forgiveness. Now, my father and I have a pretty good relationship. He even walked me down the aisle at my wedding. Something I never thought would happen in a million years.

I wish I could change how I felt about him earlier, I wish we had more of a relationship growing up. I wish that I could have found forgiveness sooner. I wish that the relationship we have now could be even stronger. This I know I can change, it all depends on me and how much I pursue our relationship. I can call him more, I can send more letters and pictures, I can save up money to go visit him. I can show more interest in his daily life and the people he shares it with. In fact, I will go call him right now.

my very own mother's day

I was super excited about Mothers Day because it was my very first as a mother. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I felt like it was a weekend celebration.

He only looks mean, he becomes a teddy bear when he play with Chloe.

On Saturday, my family got together to celebrate my amazing mom. We went to a beautiful park in Poway, everything was lush and green and the weather was absolutely beautiful! We even were able to take little Peanut with us. Chloe loves being outside as do I, it made for good attitudes and a non fussy baby. It was really relaxing and peaceful. We made sandwiches and had fruit, chips and cookies. A perfect lunch, if you ask me. We also played a rousing game of 10,000 (our family LOVES this game). My mom even surprised me with Tulips and a thoughtful gift for ME. So sweet of her to think of me as well.

On Sunday, James asked for the day off of worship so we could spend the morning together (usually I drop him off at church early and sit at Denny's across the street with Chloe until church starts about 2 hours later). It was nice to sleep in and wake up not rushed to get ready. I'm not gonna lie, it was nice to know I didn't have to go sit alone at a restaurant for 2 hours by myself. I was surprised with flowers, a movie and a professional message (I have been wanting this since I was pregnant)! I also received the most heart felt card from James that made me cry. It said all this super sweet mushy stuff and it was very encouraging. We went to church and I received a rose and some chocolates and then our church prayed over all the mothers.

After church we went to eat some great sushi! Yummmmmmmm. We were planning to spend the rest of the day at Balboa Park, but the weather was rainy and cold and Chloe was not having that again. We decided to head home, snuggle and watch some movies, Skype the other moms and just spend some uninterrupted family time.

All in all, I would say it was the best Mother's Day, relaxing and surrounded by the ones I love.

How was all of your Mothers Day?

30 day post {Day 23}

Day 23 - a picture of your favorite book
My first ever favorite book was Little Women by Luisa May Alcott. This book has always left a special place in my heart. I think I was in the third grade when I read the book and I loved it so much. I have read it over and over many times throughout the years. I own a special copy of it with Gold edged pages and a fancy ribbon bookmark and everything. I love the movie by Gillian Armstrong to.

We figured since we were skyping James' mom for mothers day, we might as well make a vlog while we are at it. So James is a little weird, but bare with us, it's our first one. :)
