Lunch Ideas?

Chloe is growing up so fast! Her daycare is now converting into a Montessori school as of next week! That means technically my little girl is in school already! eeek! She will be one of the youngest kids there. Luckily her aunt (James' older sister) is going to be the school director. She has been teaching/directing Montessori schools for a long time and we are so excited for Chloe to be able to go.

We have to get her a lunch pale and write her name in it and write her name on all her jackets and hats and I feel like she is starting kindergarten or something. The biggest change for us (besides the location) is that we now have to have Chloe bring her lunch everyday. Before the transition Chloe's daycare was at a home with a big kitchen. The providers cooked full warm meals from veggies grown in there garden. They made things like chicken enchiladas, pastas and veggies, home made pizza, and lots of things like that. Chloe ate better lunches than James and I. Now, we have to provide a lunch for her everyday. I am at a loss as to what to bring. There is a fridge, but nothing to warm meals up at the new location. So I am struggling to come up with new, yummy and nutritional meals to make Chloe for her lunches. I don't want her just to eat a sandwich every day (she doesn't even like sandwiches all that much).... ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR RECIPES? I really could use some help getting ideas of what to make her. Chloe's biggest meal is her lunch, that is the only meal she completely eats every day and I am worried that she won't continue to eat as well.

Thanks in advance for all your help and ideas!

Does she like hummus? You can do hummus and pita with veggies that she likes. I agree with Olivia. Pinterest has great ideas for kid lunches.

I used to work at a Montessori school and I loved seeing what the kids had packed in their lunches each day! You'd be surprised to know that most of the kids didn't even bring sandwiches...it was usually leftovers (if it needs to be warm you can get one of those thermos bowls and heat it up before you leave the house), lots of kids had deconstructed versions of adult meals ( rolled up pieces of turkey, cheese chunks/string cheese, pieces of bread), hard boiled eggs, pretzels, lots of fruit and veggies...I could go on and on. One thing I noticed was the lack of commercial packaging (I think this was a school rule) so if something was packaged, the parents would just take it out when making their kid's lunch. Pretty much just include a little bit of a lot of things so she has variety and doesn't get bored. Do you have a Trader Joe's by you? They have a ton of things that woud be perfect for kid's lunches! Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help. :)

I love Montessori! Ive been wanted to get certified as a Montessori guide for a while now. Its crazy expensive on the island though, and they only have Montessori schools up north (not in the deep south where I live lol). A Montessori school is a great start for your lovely lady!

You should definitely check out Tia's Blog, Two Birds on a Wire. She is great at planning healthy lunches for her young kiddos. She's an inspiration to me! (http://twobirdsonwire.blogspot.com/)

Hey there, I just saw Deanna linked to you today regarding packing a lunch for your child. I myself am no good at creatively making yummy food for my kids, but Tia is amazing at it:

She does a series on what she packs for her little ones, and honestly, I'm jealous! I hope this helps!
